Tips & Tricks: Duplicate Finder

Over time, your bookmark collection can accumulate duplicates — especially after importing bookmarks from a browser or another bookmark manager. LinkaGoGo's Duplicate Finder helps you identify and clean them up.

What is a Duplicate Bookmark?

A duplicate occurs when multiple entries point to the same URL but may have different names or live in different folders. LinkaGoGo warns you when adding a bookmark that already exists, but duplicates still slip through during bulk imports.

Tip: When importing, go ahead and import everything first, then use the Duplicate Finder to clean up afterward. This gives you more control over which copies to keep.

How the Duplicate Finder Works

The tool scans your entire collection and groups bookmarks by URL. For each duplicate group, it shows:

  • Bookmark name
  • Favorite status
  • Date added
  • Last visit date
  • Visit frequency

This information helps you decide which copy to keep — usually the one you visit most or the one with the better name.

Cleaning Up

Enter Edit mode from within the Duplicate Finder to see checkboxes for each bookmark. The toolbar lets you move selected items to a folder or delete them entirely.

Where to Find It

The Duplicate Finder is in the Tools section on the Home page sidebar. Make sure the Tools section is enabled in Options/Page Style settings.
