Classic LinkaGoGo Is Retiring June 1 — Here's How to Switch

When we relaunched LinkaGoGo earlier this month, we rebuilt the entire application from the ground up — new frontend, new backend, new everything. Since then we've shipped AI-powered bookmark enhancement, dead link detection, a REST API, and a Claude MCP integration. The new interface is now the full LinkaGoGo experience.

That means it's time to officially wind down the Classic service. Classic LinkaGoGo will be retired on June 1, 2026.

Your bookmarks are safe. Everything from your Classic account — bookmarks, folders, visit counts, favorites — is already in the new interface. Log in at www.linkagogo.com/app to pick up right where you left off. Questions? Email [email protected].

Migration Checklist

Your data is already there. These steps get you fully set up in the new interface.

1. Log In

Go to www.linkagogo.com/app. Your Classic username and password work as-is.

Forgot your password? Click "Forgot password?", enter your email address, and follow the reset link (valid for 1 hour). The email comes from [email protected] — check spam if you don't see it.

2. Add LinkaGoGo to Your Browser Toolbar

Dashboard bookmark: Create a browser bookmark for https://www.linkagogo.com/app and drag it to your bookmarks bar for one-click access.

Bookmarklet: Go to Settings > Tools and drag the "Add to LinkaGoGo" button onto your bookmarks bar. Click it on any webpage to save it — the URL, title, description, and keywords are already filled in.

3. Import Bookmarks (If Needed — Plus/Premium)

If your Classic bookmarks weren't automatically carried over, or you want to bring in bookmarks from a browser:

  1. Go to Settings > Import
  2. Upload an XBEL file (exported from Classic) or a Netscape HTML file (exported from your browser)

The importer recreates your folder hierarchy exactly and preserves all metadata: keywords, comments, ratings, favorites, aliases, reminders, and visit history. Duplicates are skipped automatically.

4. Set Up Email-to-Bookmark (Plus/Premium)

You get a personal email address that turns any URL you send it into a bookmark — great for saving links from your phone.

  1. Go to Settings > Email to Bookmark
  2. Click "Save to Contacts" to add it to your phone and email contacts
  3. Choose a destination folder

Share any webpage from your phone via email — or forward an interesting link from your inbox — and it's saved automatically.

5. Customize Your Dashboard (Plus/Premium)

Click the gear icon on the dashboard to open the Customizer. Toggle cards on or off (Recent, Popular, Favorites, New, Reminders, Top Rated), reorder with the arrows, and click "Update Defaults" to save your layout across devices. Premium members can also pin specific folders as their own dashboard cards.

6. Set Up Aliases and Smart URLs (Plus/Premium)

Edit any bookmark, expand "More", and add:

  • Alias — a short keyword (e.g. g) that takes you directly to the bookmark when typed in the search bar
  • Smart URL — a search template with %s (e.g. https://www.google.com/search?q=%s). Type g python tutorial in the search bar and LinkaGoGo opens Google with that search. Hit Detect to auto-fill for most major sites.

7. Attach RSS Feeds (Plus/Premium)

Edit a bookmark, expand "More", and click Detect next to RSS Feed URL. Browse your feeds from the RSS section in the sidebar — click any item to visit the article or save it as a new bookmark.

8. Share a Public Folder

Right-click a folder in the sidebar, select Edit, toggle Public on, add a description, and save. Visitors can browse without logging in and subscribe to your folder's RSS feed.

Tier limits: Basic — 1 shared folder · Plus — up to 5 · Premium — unlimited

9. Set Up Reminders (Plus/Premium)

Edit a bookmark, expand "More", and set a schedule: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Every N days. Due reminders surface on the dashboard Reminders card and in the sidebar.

10. Configure Preferences

  • Theme — click the sun/moon icon in the top bar to choose Auto, Light, or Dark
  • Favicons — toggle in Settings > Preferences
  • Weekly email backup (Premium) — enable in Settings > Preferences for a weekly XBEL export by email
