- his new series looks at contemporary American culture through the austere lens of statistics. Each image portrays a specific quantity of something: fifteen million sheets of office paper (five minutes of paper use); 106,000 aluminum cans (thirty seconds of can consumption) and so on. My hope is that images representing these quantities might have a different effect than the raw numbers alone, such as we find daily in articles and books. Statistics tend to feel abstract and anesthetizing, making it difficult to connect with and make meaning of 3.6 million SUV sales in one year, for example, or 2.3 million Americans in prison, or twelve million dollars spent on the Iraq war every hour. This project visually examines these vast and bizarre measures of our society, in large intricately detailed prints assembled from thousands of smaller photographs.

- In my attemt to realize 'death', I have decided to watch the dead body of a dog continuosly at the coast.
\n
\n1st day - I patted him on head wondering if his life was happy one.
\n2nd day - His face seemed to be sad. I felt the odor became stronger.
\n5th day - Many crows crowded at the spot and were pecking his eyes and anus.
\n7th day - His body was swallen, and blood and pus were flowing out. Many flies swarmed upon it, and the odor became awful.

\nInfrared light shows us the heat radiated by the world around us. By viewing animals with a thermal infrared camera, we can actually "see" the differences between warm and cold-blooded animals. Infrared also allows us to study how well feathers, fur and blubber insulate animals.
- Introduction
- At its core are 110 photographic images of New York, created by reference photographers from Hollywood studios in the years between 1930 and 1975, culled from the Lillian Michelson Research Library, one of the last of the great studio reference collections in Los Angeles.
\n
\nThroughout this era, the studios regularly sent photographers to New York to document various parts of the city, usually to help art and scenic departments accurately recreate its interiors and exteriors on the studio lot. Seen today, these images not only provide a compelling portrait of mid-20th century New York, but reveal the imaginative ways in which filmmakers interpreted (and manipulated) the real city in order to create a mythic version of it onscreen.

- Scott Mutter: A More Perfect World -- Online Exhibit from the American Museum of Photography
- For thirty years, Scott Mutter has employed classic photomontage techniques to create a world of his own -- a more perfect world. The hallmark of Mutter's remarkable imagery is the distinct sense that the elements of each picture belong together, even though the combination may violate the laws of physics. These photographs, which Scott calls "Surrational Images," have a poetic quality that invites highly personal interpretations. They are provocative as well as evocative.
